Hi, I’m Kari, creator of Keep it Simple, DIY. I’m a lifestyle blogger with an MBA who blogs about finance, Home & DIY, blogging, and more. My main motto is that if you just try, you will succeed. The key is to Keep it Simple.

It can really be a flattering experience to be called a blogger? I mean, when people hear the word blogger they think of a person who has some kind of authority online. Well, that may be true at some point, but not all the time. I mean, all the bloggers we know are pretty accomplished. It only makes sense that they’ll fans online, but there are also bloggers who are still getting the hang of the whole blogging thing.

The truth is we are all bloggers. How come? Well, remember the last time you updated your status? Was that just a few seconds ago? Well, that is considered as blogging. As long as you share your thoughts online, that is called blogging. So, we’re all bloggers. Yay!

Here is an idea: why don’t we take our blogging to the next level? Don’t worry.  You don’t really have to be an expert in order to be a blogger. All you need is a website and of course something to say. But before you get to that part, let me give you a few hints that will help you up your blog.

Trying out new things can feel like you’re in a new dimension. Everything will seem so new that you don’t even know what to do. Don’t just jump into blogging without knowing a thing or two about it first. Here are some tips for newbie bloggers:

Be passionate about it

I’m not trying to make blogging sound easy for you. I’m not saying it is. The truth is blogging can be really hard, but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible to do.

If you want to be a blogger then you’re going to need loads of patience. There is more to being a blogger than simply knowing how to write. It is also about knowing what your readers would want to read about.

You see, when you publish an article online, it is no longer your opinion that matters. Rather, what is now important is what your readers are going to think. I can’t really enumerate every fail that may come in the process of becoming a blogger but the thing is you are going to need lots of patience. Nobody has that kind of patience. No matter how patient you think you are, you are still going to run out of it at some point.

What you need is passion. When you love something, you are bound to keep on doing it even when things get tough.

Respond to comments

We owe a lot to the people reading our blogs. If it wasn’t for them then why else would we even blog?

It doesn’t matter what you’re blogging about. If you’re blogging as a form of leisure or if you’re blogging in for your business doesn’t matter because if not for your readers then your blog won’t even exist.

Whether we admit it or not we blog because we want people to know what we think and what we know. So, what do you think will happen if not for these readers? Our blog will go down.

We need to respond to comments because we have to make readers feel that we care about them. That is the only way that they’ll keep on reading our blog.

  1. I’m not a newbie blogger, I’ve been blogging for 3 years but my mind is like a sponge and when I see a title with the word “tip” in it, I click. Responding to comments is VERY important. I’m here to back you up on that 🙂 My blogging life pretty much changed once I started making friends with my readers and responding to comments lol

    1. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the ‘social’ part of blogging. Without being Social, you get nowhere. Thank you for the comment! I fall into the trap of not commenting back but I’m learning from my guest poster and my readers. Have a great day!
