Front Yard Flower Garden

June 24, 2013 - Day 82   Here is my yard after being weeded with a simple bush at the front of the porch.  Of course, being a fan of color, I needed a flower garden.  Plus, the bush was dying so, I pulled out my tools and got to work. Here's how I did it: Step 1: Get all of the Rocks out of the Area.  And put into a large container that you will have to have multiple people help you move.  That wasn't the smartest idea. Step 2: Remove the old Plant Like most would, I grabbed ...

The Front Porch

May 30, 2013 - Day 57 continued When I moved in to my house, the front door was painted red and very faded so I bought some semi-gloss exterior brown paint.  The addition of the screen door allows so much light into the house and provides security.  I of course was not the one to put up the door.  However, I did put the swing together and it didn't fall apart when I sat on it!   ...

How to Paint a Diamond Accent Wall

Since I had moved from a one bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house with a loft, I had a significant amount of empty space and needed to find a purpose for each room. The room of the day has mirrored doors, perfect for selfies and what else but an exercise room?!  Because of course, if I have an exercise room that means I will actually exercise.  Right? Uhm.  No. Ok.  So the exercising didn't really happen much upstairs.  It got way too hot and was better downstairs in the family room.  Although, who am I kidding?!  The exercising has ...

Let’s Make it a Home!

April 21-30, 2013 - Days 17-26 Luckily, I had just furnished my apartment prior to buying my house and everything worked just as well in the new house! Had I known I would one day create a blog about moving in, I would have taken some photos during the day and natural light.  I found this wavy shelf at American Furniture Warehouse for $60.  It fit perfectly with my living room theme. And of course, I am not one for symmetry and perfection so my pictures are hung at different levels ...

My Paint Preference

I mentioned on a previous post that I prefer Glidden's Ultra-Hide 770 semi-gloss paint, formerly called America's Finest. Here are five reasons why: With other paints, when applying a second coat, the first coat begins to peal back up.  This paint has never had that issue for me. This paint is cheap for gallon size.  $18/gallon.  With how often I paint, it needs to be cheap. The coverage this paint provides is great!  Covering over a similar color only takes one coat and covering over a color outside of the color pallet takes only 2 coats!  Unless of course you ...
