Clean and Decorate with me

Video Summary

Good morning everyone! In this video, I’m doing a clean with me where the main focus is taking down all my Easter decorations now that the holiday is over. I walk you through finding all the Easter items around my house, packing them away carefully (especially the special figurines from my childhood home), and then bringing out my summer decor to replace everything.

I share a bit about how my Easter went – I visited my parents’ house for steak dinner and we celebrated three birthdays all on the same day. I also chat about whether I always decorate for holidays (spoiler: not always, but this year I did Easter because I was ready for spring decor back in February but wasn’t quite ready for full summer vibes yet).

You’ll see me switch out the seasonal decorations, including my cute bunny figurines and eggs, and replace them with my summer color scheme of yellow, white, and orange. I explain why I updated my color palette last year when we redid our family room. There’s also some kitchen cleaning mixed in, and I share my tip about why we rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. It’s a relaxed, vlog-style clean with me where I bring you along to the basement and back as I organize and redecorate!

Good morning everybody, welcome back. Today I’m going to do another clean with me. I have a few things I want to get clean this morning, but the main thing is Easter is over and I need to take all these Easter decorations down.

All right, let’s go find the rest of the Easter decorations. Yep, this is a room that needs to be tidied up as well. For now, Easter.

How was your Easter? Did you do anything fun? I ended up going over to my parents’ house and we had dinner. We had steak and we celebrated three birthdays all on the same day, and then we just came back and had a nice easy going night.

We did not do any Easter egg hunt or anything like that. There’s no kids in our family out here. We only have a few family members in Colorado and none of them have kids. Just these guys, these guys.

All right, in the basement I’ve got a container for these, so let’s go find it. Come with me. Well, vlog style it today. All right, it’s one of these. Do you see Easter? Oh, there it is, this one. And I also want to decorate with the summer decor. It’s right there. All right, I’m gonna bring these upstairs. I’ll see you guys there.

Do you decorate for Easter or any holidays? I don’t always decorate for Easter, but this year I decided to. I don’t have a ton of winter decor, so I was ready to get spring up, but it was February when I did this, so I wasn’t quite ready to get all of like a summer decor out yet, so we just got some. I’m just gonna throw everything in here and hope that I put these carefully in for the bunnies and figurines.

These figurines are from my parents’ house when I was a child, and I really do love them, so I’ve kept them.

All right, let’s grab these. Look how cute these are. Like just these little bunnies, the egg, how sweet. And then of course I garden now, so these guys I love. All these. Oh, the cat wants to go out. That’s what she’s scratching at the door for.

Aren’t those so sweet? All right, I know I could be a lot more careful and wrap them up, but I just don’t have the patience for that. Get everything. I think I missed one thing. That’s what we have for summer stuff.

Oh, I remember all this. I love it. Let’s see what all I have here. I’ll figure out where to put each thing.

Okay, I switched up my summer decor last year. I’d had just yellow, and last year I added white and orange to my yellow because we redid our family room. Family room, it used to be more of just gray tones, and now it’s still gray tones, but there’s a little bit more brown in it. And so I added orange and white just to make it a little bit more fun.

These flowers, they’re fake. I actually had them in the bouquet in my wedding, and we got married right here in the kitchen.

I know a lot of people say that you should just throw your dishes in the dishwasher and not rinse them before you wash your dishes, but we don’t run our dishwasher that often. We run it probably twice a week, and so if I don’t wash them before putting them in here, they will just get hard and crusty and it’ll never come off. We’ve done it. We’ve tried. It doesn’t work. We’ve tried different kinds of soaps. Still doesn’t work. Tried the Cascade Platinum that I actually love. We didn’t like it at all. So we rinse them, put them in there, unless we’re just going to be running it right then. Then I’ll just throw them in.

Let’s bring these bins downstairs, see if there’s a few more items we can find for decorating, and then add some more things to the house.

This is the only thing I found, so I’m going to bring it up and stick it in the bathroom. I know that I did have some other white flower holders, vases, but I wasn’t able to find them, so we’re just gonna go with this and we’ll stick it up.

We have the picture up. I’m not a big fan of this frame, but I’m also too lazy to do anything about it, so for now that frame is up.

I’m not loving this. I can’t remember what I did previously. It looks really cute last year and I’ve got these here. You know, maybe it was because of these. Oh, I wonder if I take this, whoops, and its leg, and I put this in here, maybe I’ll give it a different texture. Yeah, that might work. Okay, what do you think? Better? It’s a little better. Then I just put that candle over here, and now I have this.

I’m gonna take this watering can and I’m actually going to put it right up there. I think I should go this way. Let’s see how that looks. All right, that’ll work.

Now the goal is to get this and this up there. It needs something else. I don’t know. For now, that’s good enough.

I hope you enjoyed this video and I appreciate you being here. Thank you so much and I’ll see you later. Bye!

Spread the love
