    Video Summary

Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing some kitchen organization tips that will help you keep your kitchen efficient and functional. I walk you through nine practical tips starting with the fundamental rule that everything needs to have a place and like items should be kept together – all your bowls in one spot, all your plates together, all your sealable containers in one area. I share how important it is not to overcrowd your drawers (mine used to get stuck all the time!), and how using drawer dividers can help keep things organized – I got mine on sale for around $20 instead of $50. I explain my strategy of keeping like things together by showing how all my coffee and tea supplies are in one area near the coffee pot for easy access. Another key tip is putting things near where you use them, like keeping pots and pans by the stove and storing spices in a drawer right next to the stove for quick access while cooking. I show you my alphabetized spice drawer with the most-used items in the front row, and I emphasize labeling the tops of spice jars so you can see what they are without tilting your head to read the sides. I also talk about keeping heavy-use items like my rice and flour easily accessible rather than stored in five-gallon buckets in the basement, and finally, storing items you rarely use up high so you don’t have to reach for them often. These simple tips will help anyone create a more organized and efficient kitchen!

Hey everyone, welcome back. I’m Kari , this is Keep It Simple DIY, and today I have some kitchen organization tips for you that you will love.

My very first tip is everything needs to have a place. So we want to make sure all our bowls are in one place, all our plates are in one place, and the general gist is to keep like items together. So in this section I have all of my like sealable bowls and dishes, and then I’ve got all my canning jars. Keeping things all in the same place will make it a lot faster to put your dishes away and will make it to where anyone else who puts dishes away will know where the items go.

My next tip is to not overcrowd your drawers. This is a drawer of mine that, well, it’s a little dirty, but it used to be so overcrowded that, you know, I’d try to open it and it would just get stuck. It’d be jammed. So don’t overcrowd your drawers. If your drawers are too stuffed, think about using the counter if you need to, or realistically, do you actually need all of those items?

Tip number three is use drawer dividers to help you keep things organized. So for me, I’ve got spoons here, spatulas here, and I did get these drawer dividers to make all of my bags fit. Now I did not buy the expensive ones. I bought these a while after they came out. They were on sale. I want to say it was like twenty dollars instead of like fifty. So using drawer dividers helps to make sure things are not cluttered.

I mentioned how I have all of my jars together and all of my Snapware together, but not only is that important, it’s important to have like things together. So this is where I keep my coffee pot, so I actually keep all of our coffee and tea in this drawer down here, and I keep all of our coffee supplies in the cabinet. And this is very helpful because when we’re ready to get coffee, we just need this area, and we even use the water, we fill it up right here over at our fridge.

My next tip is to put things near the stove that you use with the stove. So I have all my pots and pans over here right next to my stove, and then over on the other side I have my bakeware. In addition, I also use my spices at the stove, so this is a big tip that I have: put your spices in a drawer near your stove. So these spice jars I got just to fit in, and they fit nicely. We are working on getting these sticks that we’ve got down there a little bit more stuck so that way they’ll stay in order. But this has been super helpful for me. I have my spices alphabetized aside from this front row, which is my most used items. So perfect way for me to be able to quickly access them.

Now I also have my spices down here, just like my overflow, and here is my next tip. My next tip is to label the top of your spices if you have them in a drawer, so that way you can tell what they are without having to try to do the thing where you’re like looking at the side and you’re like, all right, can I tell, like, what is this? I think this looks like cinnamon, but is it? Oh nope, it’s umami seasoning. So labeling the top is super helpful.

My eighth tip is to have your heavy use items easily accessible. That doesn’t mean they have to be out in the open like mine, but I use these items all the time and I can just walk over and grab it, super easy to get to it. Whereas let’s say I had my rice in a five gallon bucket in my basement, that would be a lot harder for me to have to get to it. So keeping it where you use it helps to be more efficient.

And my final tip is to keep anything up high that you do not use very often because you won’t have to try to reach it. So I have all of my items that I really don’t use very often up at the very top.

All right, I hope you enjoyed that quick tips video on how to keep your kitchen organized and be efficient in your kitchen. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe, and I will see you next time. Bye!
