New House Decorating Ideas

It’s finally here!  Nick and I moved into our house about three months ago and the house tour is finally live!

There are a ton of decorating ideas in the video.  Here are a few of them summarized!

Hang your curtains to the ceiling to make a room look larger

Of course, this won’t work in all cases, but if you have tall ceilings, I suggest this.  Once we hung our curtains, we noticed a huge difference.  Our eyes started scanning up the wall more often, making the room look larger!

Pick a color and run with it

I chose to pick yellow as my main color for our downstairs area.  Rather than painting walls bold colors, try adding multiple accent pieces that match.  This way, you can switch the color any time without having to do a lot of work.

Avoid over-cluttering your decor

Less is more when it comes to decor.  Adding less makes the room look more open.  I suggest a few large wall pieces and a couple smaller decor items throughout the room.  Too many items will make the space too busy.

Choose the right furniture for the space

We went back and forth on which furniture we would put in each room.  Each room needs to be functional and easy to maintain.  Make it work for you so you don’t have to work hard just to relax in your space!
