In 2017, there are plenty of beautiful ideas for tablescapes going around that really can make your living space come alive. While trends can be a bit transitional, there are several styles that can be used on your tablescape that is timeless. In this article, we’re going to take a look at some of the most timeless tablescape trends for the 2017 calendar year that will really bring life to your home’s décor.

Monochrome and Gold

Nothing quite says luxury and prosperity better than gold. While we’re not necessarily talking 24 karats, using gold-colored accents on a black and white tablescape can really make your tabletop shine. If you have a white marble-topped table, this will be easy, but if you have a wooden table or a table that isn’t quite monochrome, you can use a table cloth for this design option.

To get started, select a table accessory that is gold-colored; you can use gold highlighted vases, gilded silverware, or gold colored plates in order to add a bit of richness to your setting. Additionally, you can even add in some flowers to accentuate the gold theme like chrysanthemums or yellow roses.

Why it Works: When you have a simple white or black table design and introduce rich colors like gold, for some reason, it really pops visually.

Floral Accented Wood

On the opposite side of the spectrum, your tablescape can have a more natural aesthetic that’s perfect for those shooting for an earthier feel. To accomplish this tablescape trend, your table should be comprised of wood. In most cases, darker woods look better, but lighter woods will do in a pinch.

On your wooden table, you should have a flower holder in the center. For this specific tablescape, most ceramic vases won’t quite fit the aesthetic. While those that are made of burnished wood might work, wicker flower planters really will accentuate the natural theme that you’re looking for. Next, use just about any type of flowering plant for a nice, floral accent. For an earthier feel, you can use succulents to add a leafy styling to your tablescape.

Why it Works: When you’re dining or just relaxing at a table that has these earthy tones, you’ll feel as if you’re dining away in a garden. Additionally, having this kind of natural aesthetic will work with just about any décor imaginable.

Rustic Accents

For another earthy tablescape, consider going rustic. When you want to entertain but you aren’t looking for an overly luxurious setting, you can use things like strips of burlap fabric, green vines, and wooden tables to really play up the rustic setting. This is one of the most charming tablescapes available, and if done right, you can achieve a type of rustic elegance.

For this tablescape, you should always use a wooden table; materials like beech wood and maple seem to work really well. As mentioned, viny plants work really well, so feel free to decorate with plants like wisteria or even morning glories. Finally, burlap fabric table settings really will bring home the rustic feel.

Why it Works: Rustic tablescapes are pleasing to the eye and will transport you and your guests to a simpler way of life.

Outrageous Color

Who says that every tablescape has to use understated colors? Sometimes, a splash of color can really make an event shine and a meal at home more memorable. For this tablescape, you’ll almost certainly need a brightly colored tablecloth, though there are tables out there with outrageously colored tops out there as well.

Next, some multicolored plates will really bring this design aesthetic home. Ceramic plates are a great choice, so find ones that are pink or another festive color. Finally, tie it all together with some pretty flowering plants set in a beautiful vase that can match the plates in coloration.

Why it Works: While you don’t want an eyesore, bright and festive colors will almost always look nice when set in the right room décor.

An Elegant Tablescape

One of the most popular tablescapes of this year is one that fully embraces femininity in a room’s décor. For this specific tablescape, you’ll need a lacey tablecloth that can be draped over your tabletop. If you’re not a fan of lace, you can also use tablecloths that feature floral patterns as well. The next accent should feature white ceramic plates, bowls, and cups; these add a balancing factor to the design of the tablescape. Finally, in the center, this trend calls for a taller vase that contains just about any variety of flowers.

For an additional design concession, you can also use a Lazy Susan underneath the vase.

Why it Works: With the presence of floral highlights and understated ceramic dishware, this tablescape really has a lot of inherent elegance.

Which of these tablescape trends fit the décor of your home?
