This Month’s Top Post: Pineapple Island Teriyaki Chicken Legs – 293 Views

This Month’s Runner Up: August 2016 Blog Income Report – 173 Views

Last month I mentioned that I was quite burnt out from the blog and that I had taken a little break.  That break ran through the beginning of September but I regained my energy and was able to get my posts planned for October.

September was more of a learning month for me.  I studied my analytics and follower trends and I dug deeper into the ins and outs of Pinterest.

This month, I also completed my Media Kit.   This is one of my favorite pages because it is completely automated.  It took me a few months to get it how I wanted while being optimized for both mobile and web interfaces.  I am so happy with how it turned out and am excited to share how I made it!

In September I actually turned down a sponsored post because I didn’t want to overload myself.  This made my  income be lower than usual.  Overall though, the knowledge I gained about blogging is far more valuable than an extra few bucks would have been.

I mentioned that I was diving into learning Pinterest above.  One of the very valuable lessons that I learned is that I should first pin my posts to my own board and then share them to others so it acts as a re-pin rather than a new pin.  I had scheduled all of my pins from my blog directly last month and it brought my page views down a bit.  I also noticed that each pin had to see how it fared on its own from only that one board I pinned it to.

Here are my views that came from Pinterest since I started using Tailwind.

JUNE: 153   JULY: 239   AUGUST: 658   SEPTEMBER: 444

My plan for October is to focus on content, especially my Paycheck  series.   I also am going to start writing a bit more content about my personal life.  This is something that I hadn’t done previously because well…nothing going on was interesting.  I’ve been doing the same thing for years and you run out of things to write about.  Unless you guys really want to hear about cleaning the litter box every day.  Wait…blog post idea! 🙂  Stay tuned!  I have a lot of exciting things coming up that I am so excited to share with all of you!
