Fav Face Products

For years, I swore by all things AcneFree.  The toner pads were just about the only thing on the market that worked well with my naturally oily skin type and the gentle acne scrub while not pleasant smelling, left my skin feeling fresh and light.

Then, the day came and the toner pads were discontinued and my face showed the difference.  My breakouts that I hadn’t had since the middle of high school slowly started coming back and I felt like I was fighting an uphill battle.

Without being able to use the toner pads, I started looking for a new set of products to use.  I tried product after product.  For the acne wash, either the scrubs left my face with an oily feeling layer or they didn’t exfoliate and left my face feeling like it had an extra layer of skin.  All of the toners that I tried for years either didn’t help my acne, were too wet when applied, or burned when applied.

Luckily, about a month ago I found products that I am so excited about.  Both products have good scents, leave my face feeling clean, exfoliated, and non-oily, and have cleared up my acne once again.

The new scrub I’ve been using is St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub.  This scrub has felt so great on my face and I can see my face getting cleared up by the day.  This scrub is also oil-free, which is a must for my oily skin.

Most importantly, I have now found an astringent to replace my former AcneFree pads.  The Alba Botanica astringent has left my skin feeling clean and fresh afterwards without having to suffer through the burn that many other astringents cause.  To keep my routine as similar as possible, I’ve also purchased some cotton pads to apply the astringent.

  1. Great post about changing acne fighting medications. I’ve recently had an explosion of acne not seen since middle school also. Alba Botanica is an awesome brand! I’m trying the Giovanni line of acne products at the moment along with Thayers Witch Hazel as the astringent. Hopefully, you’ll include a follow-up post to tell us how well the Alba Botanica and St. Ives worked for you.

    1. Hi Denita! It’s been about a month now and these products are working great for me! Much better than the Nutrogena that I was never fond of. I also think it’s working better than my previous favorite acne routine with the acne-free because it’s keeping my face just as clear but has a much better scent!
